ALBAWABA - On Sunday night, a big fire broke out at Dayyer Port in Iran's southern Bushehr Province. Videos shared on social media showed thick smoke and flames coming from the area, which worried a lot of people. Officials later said that the situation was under control and that there were no deaths or major damage.
According to Yousef Ranjbar, head of the Fire and Safety Department in Dayyer, the fire started as a small, localized fire near homes and grain storage tanks on Hafez Street and Motaf Crossroads.
Ranjbar put an end to rumors of an explosion by saying that emergency teams arrived quickly and put out the flames before they spread.
"There were no injuries or damage," Ranjbar said, urging people and social media users to check reports with official sources and not spread information that hasn't been confirmed.
Reports that don't agree and a lot of talk on social media
Even though the government said everything was fine, several Iranian news sites said they heard a loud explosion in the port area after the fire. However, local officials have not been able to back up the claims.
Videos that were shared online showed black smoke rising in columns from what looked like the port's industrial zone. This led to speculation about damage to nearby buildings.
