ALBAWABA - The Guardian has revealed a shocking new development: Yossi Cohen, the former head of Israeli Mossad, is allegedly responsible for a covert scheme to influence Fatou Bensouda, the former prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Reporting from Jerusalem, investigative journalist Harry Davies reveals a series of conversations held in private during which Cohen is said to have threatened Bensouda. The goal? to talk her off of looking into war crimes that were perpetrated in the occupied Palestinian lands.

Before Bensouda decided to formally open an investigation into claims that Israel had perpetrated war crimes and crimes against humanity in Palestinian territory, Cohen had secretly dealt with her for a number of years.

According to sources, Cohen actively supported attempts to obstruct the ICC probe while serving as Mossad director because of concern that Israeli military members may be prosecuted.

According to an anonymous source, Cohen was designated by Netanyahu as a "unofficial messenger" to deliver threats to Bensouda. It seems that the goal was to discourage her from going further with the probe. These endeavors, however, eventually failed.

Multiple people with knowledge of the situation claim that Bensouda revealed Cohen's coercive methods to a certain set of ICC representatives. Bensouda expressed her concerns to the ICC in writing as a result of growing worries about Cohen's aggressive and relentless conduct.

Beyond Bensouda herself, reports claim that Mossad was also interested in her spouse; the agency allegedly got covert recordings of Bensouda with the intention of damaging her reputation.
