A mortar shell hit a state-owned building in northern Tehran Monday night, reported the official Iranian news agency (IRNA).

Witnesses told the agency that the mortar shell hit the building near the Mostazafan and Janbazan Foundation, an institution for the poor and war disabled, located around Argentina Square.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast, it said.

Officials declined to comment on the explosion, nor did they give any word on the damage inflicted on the building when contacted by the agency.

The outlawed Mujahedeen Khalq group carried out a series of attacks in Tehran before the Iranian Army responded by a massive missile attack in April. The rebels’ bases in Iraq were destroyed and seven people were killed, all but one of them Iraqi civilians – Albawaba.com
