A militant cell was dismantled, the Interior Ministry said on Friday.
Its three members, from the governorate of Kairouan, intended to illegally enter Libya to join a known militant organization and receive needed training so that they may carry out "terrorist attacks" once back to Tunisia, the same source said.
In November, a bus bombing killed 14 in Tunis, Tunisia. Daesh claimed responsibility for the attack.
The three were arrested by a joint patrol of Medenine national guards and the Terrorism Prevention Unit.
