As part of its Cause of the Month programme, Mashreqbank has donated 20 personal computers to the Dubai Women Association (DWA) in order to enhance computer literacy among UAE women.
The computers will be used to help members qualify for the International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL), which is recognised worldwide as a standard of competence encompassing the seven fundamental skills of computer literacy.
“Mashreqbank’s generous support will enable us to provide less privileged women in Dubai with the training to acquire the International Computer Driving Licence. This is a valuable vocational skill which will help these women on the road to employment and financial independence,” said Khawla Al Naboodha, Vice-President of DWA.
Other DWA programmes, which are taught in association with International Learning Solutions, include Time Management, E-Citizenship, and Presentation, Communications and Leadership Skills.
“The DWA provides much needed support for women in need and we are delighted to help them in providing practical vocational skills which will help their members to lead productive, fulfilling lives,” said Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, CEO of Mashreqbank. “Women play a key role in shaping the future generation, so it is essential for the future of the nation that they are provided with every opportunity to acquire the skills of the modern world.”
The DWA was founded in 1973 as a non-profit organisation devoted to raising literacy rates among women in the UAE.
