ALBAWABA- French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Saudi Arabia on Monday for a three-day state visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties. 

During his visit, Macron is set to meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, to discuss key political and economic issues between the two nations.

Macron's agenda includes discussions on deepening bilateral relations with a special focus on economic, cultural, and environmental matters. He will also visit the Riyadh Metro project and is scheduled to travel to the Al-Ula region on Wednesday. 

Additionally, Macron will attend the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (COP16) in Riyadh, where global leaders, policymakers, and organizations will accelerate initiatives to restore land and address drought challenges.

Economic relations between Saudi Arabia and France have seen significant growth, with trade between the two countries reaching $10.75 billion in 2023. France plays a prominent role in sectors such as energy, technology, aviation, and construction, with 473 French companies operating in Saudi Arabia. 

Many of these companies are expanding into emerging sectors like the digital economy, AI, culture, hospitality, and healthcare.

Saudi investments in France, aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, have also grown, fostering cooperation in key sectors like energy, technology, and tourism. Notable projects include petrochemical complexes like "SATORP" and "Amiral," as well as defense collaborations with companies such as Airbus and Thales.

Cultural and academic cooperation between the two countries has also flourished, particularly in the development of Al-Ula, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Moreover, Saudi Arabia and France work together on regional and international issues, including counterterrorism and diplomatic efforts in Lebanon and Sudan.

Macron’s visit highlights the deepening strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and France, underscoring France’s continued role as a key partner in the Kingdom’s economic diversification and regional stability.
