ALBAWABA - Lebanon's Minister of Public Works and Transport, Ali Hamieh, has strongly criticized the British newspaper "The Daily Telegraph" for its recent report alleging that Hezbollah is storing weapons at Beirut Airport. Hamieh denounced the report as inaccurate and misleading.
In a press conference, Hamieh accused the newspaper of lacking transparency and relying on unidentified sources for its information. He announced that Lebanon would be pursuing legal action against "The Daily Telegraph."
Hamieh highlighted that Beirut Airport has been the target of a long-term defamation campaign harming Lebanon's international reputation, in addition to ongoing interference from Israel.
The minister also pointed out that the International Air Transport Association (IATA) has firmly denied the claims made in "The Daily Telegraph" report.
The "Daily Telegraph" report cited sources within Beirut’s main airport, alleging that Hezbollah is storing a significant stockpile of Iranian weapons, missiles, and explosives at the site. This report has sparked fears that Rafic Hariri International Airport, located just four miles from central Beirut, could be targeted militarily.
