Lebanon's premier-designate Fouad Seniora is threatening to quit the formation of the new government because Shiite Amal Movement and Hizbullah are insisting on getting the foreign affairs ministry, An Nahar reported on Tuesday.
Seniora was initially believed to appoint Marwan Hamadeh, a Druze, for the foreign ministry, but both Amal and Hizbullah vetoed, insisting the portfolio should go to a Shiite figure. Seniora is now reportedly resolved to name Marwan Hamadeh for the interior ministry.
Seniora was expected to announce a 24-minister line-up early this week after he was chosen by all but two members of the newly elected 128-seat parliament last week.
