Lebanese employees at Sawt al-Shaab radio station staged a strike on Wednesday, replacing two-and-a-half hours of daily programs and news bulletins with recorded music to protest a delay in their salaries since July, the Daily Star reported Thursday.
A statement issued by the employees was quoted by the paper as saying that "the strike today is a warning to the administration. If our financial compensation is not settled by Tuesday, we'll go on an open-ended strike.”
The station's general manager Tanios Deaibes admitted that the station, which is affiliated with the Communist Party, was in financial crisis and that officials were working hard to find a solution, the paper said - Albawaba.com
