ALBAWABA - Two Lebanese security officials told the media that at least seven people have been killed in an Israeli airstrike on an emergency center in southern Lebanon with air-to-surface missiles.
The two officials, who wished to remain anonymous, said the Israeli strike targeted the Emergency and Relief Center of the Islamic Health Authority, which is linked with the Islamic Group, in the village of Al-Habbariyah, South Lebanon.
Jamaa Islamiya, a Lebanese group affiliated with the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, issued a statement claiming that "a number" of individuals had been killed and calling the strike a "heinous crime".
On February 14, an Israeli strike destroyed part of a building in Nabatiyeh, southern Lebanon, killing seven members of the same family, including a child, according to Lebanon's official National News Agency.
In response to the attack, Hezbollah released a statement condemning the incident: "Hezbollah strongly condemns the heinous aggression and appalling crime committed by the "Zionist" occupation forces against patients and medical staff at the Islamic Health Association center in the town of Habbariyeh in the south, resulting in the death and injury of several Lebanese civilians".
"We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the dear martyrs, praying that the Almighty grants them patience, and abundant reward and that the wounded receive swift recovery. We firmly assert that this aggression will not pass without retaliation and punishment," the statement added.
Since Israel launched its merciless aggression on Gaza in October, Israeli forces have exchanged nearly daily fire with Hezbollah, which the latter claims that their strikes are in support of the Palestinians in Gaza.
Israel has also targeted Hezbollah and Hamas officials in Lebanon, including with strikes deep into Lebanon. According to an AFP correspondent, following the raid surrounding Wadi Faara, the army and Hezbollah closed access to the area.
A Lebanese security source, who requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media, claimed the strikes targeted an unoccupied area where Hezbollah had positions.
Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel
Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.
Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip and captured military bases and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.
In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip. Thousands were killed, and dozens of thousands of others were injured in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
