Kuwait’s deputy prime minister and foreign minister, sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah on Sunday announced that the government accepted resignation of oil minister Adel al-Sabeeh.
Sheikh Sabah, in a statement to Kuwait news agency (Kuna), following the weekly meeting of the cabinet, said the cabinet tasked information minister sheikh Ahmad Fahd al-Ahmad al-Sabah to be the acting minister of oil pending issuance of a decree to appoint a new minister for the oil portfolio.
Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti MP heading the assembly’s committee on health, social and labor committee said on Sunday that his committee was briefed on the investigation of al-Rawdathain oil refinery explosion which happened last month, resulting in the death of four personnel.
He told reporters after the meeting that this subject was discussed in order to prepare a mechanism to implement the decision of the parliament to investigate the incident and specify a timetable for proposals on this issue during the next meeting.
During its last weekly session, the parliament authorized the said committee to investigate the causes of the explosion which took place in the oil field ten days ago where four people were killed and 19 others injured. The authorization of the committee came according to a request presented by a number of mps to investigate the explosion of oil reservoir center (15). (Albawaba.com)
