Kuwait and Iran are to sign a security agreement this month to combat drug smuggling. The emirate's interior minister announced in Thursday's newspapers, monitored by Iran Daily.
"Iran's Interior Minister Abdulvahed Moussavi Lari will visit Kuwait on September 30th to complete uoint security efforts to combat (drug) smuggling and related illegal entries. The two sides will sign an agreement in this respect,” Sheikh Mohammad Khaled Al-Sabah was quoted by Al-Qabas as saying.
The event will also involve “coordination between two high-level security teams from the two countries,” it said.
Sheikh Mohammad visited Iran last year and held talks on creating the means to end drug smuggling and illicit traficking of all kinds via the Arabian Gulf waters separating the two countries.
Kuwait’s coast guards and police seized more than a ton (2.200) pounds of hashish in the past three months and arrested 24 Iranian and Kuwaiti dealers, according to the Iranian paper.
