Iran's President Mohammad Khatami on Monday cabled a message to his Algerian counterpart Abdelaziz Bouteflika and congratulated him on the country's National Day as well as the 50th anniversary of the "victory of Algerian national liberation revolution."
In the message, cited by IRNA, Khatami referred to common grounds between the two "great revolutions" which aimed to get rid of the Yoke of colonialism and said Islam played a very significant role to this end. He voiced the readiness of the Iranian government and nation for further expansion of ties with Algeria to the highest level. (albawaba.com)
