Jordanian deputy Abed Al-Majeed Al-Aqtash, head of the Palestinian Committee of the Lower House, said in a statement to Albawaba.com that in his capacity as head of the committee, he will be calling committee members to an urgent meeting to discuss current developments in the occupied territories.

Based on that, he said, the committee will present a number of proposals to the speaker of the lower house Abdul Hadi Majali.

Al- Aqtash added that he himself will be presenting a number of proposals to members of the committee, one of which will be to urge Arab countries to hold an emergency Arab summit, and call upon all countries that signed agreements with the Israel to freeze their agreements, and cancel any political and economic relationships.

Al-Aqtash went as far as saying that he would demand that Arab countries expel all Israeli ambassadors.

In regard to political movements and unions taking specific steps in reaction to the ongoing developments in Palestine, Al-Aqtash replied that they “back all political moves and unions that support the Palestinian people in their struggle against occupation and as a way of removing oppressive measures against the Palestinian people.”

The deputy added that Israel finds itself in a tight spot, after Palestinian-Israeli negotiations reached a dead end because the Palestinians held on to their rights to Jerusalem and refused to concede this right.

“Because of this the Israelis are trying to start a confrontation in Jerusalem to help them escape the political facts regarding the Holy City.”
