ALBAWABA - Following a recent gunshot incident at the King Hussein Bridge, all Jordanian truck drivers who were detained for interrogation were freed, according to a Sunday announcement from the Interior Ministry.

Maher Diyab Hussein Al-Jazi, a truck driver from Jordan who originated in the Husayniya neighborhood of Ma'an governorate, was engaged in the shooting that took place on the other side of the bridge. He was moving cargo from the West Bank to Jordan.

Authorities are still gathering information regarding the incident, but preliminary investigations indicate that the gunshot was a one-time occurrence. The government confirmed that the gunman is being returned home and buried in Jordan.

In addition, the ministry said that in the wake of the event, more than 100 trucks had made it back to Jordan. In reaction to the incident, authorities are also handling the issue of the bridge's closure.

On Sunday morning, a Jordanian truck driver opened fire killing three Israeli security forces on the Allenby Bridge border crossing between the occupied West Bank and Jordan.

Magen David Adom (MDA) revealed on Sunday that three people were severely injured before they were announced dead minutes later.

In an initial statement, MDS said: "At 09:55 a report was received at MDA's 101 hotline in the Jerusalem area about 2 gunshot wounds near the Allenby border terminal. MDA medics and paramedics are providing medical treatment to 2 injured people in a serious condition."
