ALBAWABA - Tensions erupted in the Harem District in Idlib countryside on Tuesday night, and clashes were reported between Syrian government forces and a military group of French immigrants known as the "Ghuraba Brigade" [Foreigners' Brigade], led by French-Senegalese Omar Omsen.

Sources said that Syrian forces intend to carry out a security operation in a camp of "French immigrants" after reports of illegal activities by the "Ghuraba Brigade" within the camp.

The story began when Omar Omsen's group was accused of kidnapping a little French child. The security operation does not target foreign fighters, the Syrian government stressed, but rather aims to recover the girl, whom Omar Omsen is accused of kidnapping, and that members of his group have detained her inside the camp.

The security source outlined that the kidnapped girl's mother, who is also French, appealed to security authorities to intervene, stressing that the operation targeted those attempting to run the "French migrant camp" outside the state's authority.

Sources indicate that the operation also aims to dismantle the "Ghuraba Division" and arrest "Omsen," while ensuring the safety of civilians inside the camp and preventing casualties among them.

The "Ghuraba Brigade" issued an official statement today accusing the Syrian state of "collaborating" with foreign parties and threatening a military escalation. This prompted security forces to surround the camp, in anticipation of any counterattack, according to the sources.

Two civilians were killed and five others injured in an attack carried out by unknown assailants in Idlib province, northwestern Syria, on Wednesday, according to state media in Damascus.
