ALBAWABA - A Swedish court handed over a life sentence jail term to a Swedish jihadist who was involved in burning alive Jordan pilot Muath al-Kasasbeh, AFP confirmed on Thursday.

A Stockholm court sentenced jihadist Osama Krayem to life over the murder of the Jordanian pilot who was burned alive in 2015 by the Islamic State group, which sparked international outrage.

Judge Anna Liljenberg Gullesjo confirmed that Krayem's actions consisted of "guarding the victim both before and during the execution and taking him to the cage where he was set alight while still alive."

In May, Swedish prosecutors announced their bid to indict a convicted Swedish jihadist, Osama Krayem, for his suspected involvement in the 2015 capture of a Jordanian pilot, Muath al-Kasasbeh, in Syria.

Muath al-Kasasbeh was caught and burned to death by the IS (Daesh) group after his F-16 fighter aircraft crashed over Syria in 2015.

Prosecution Authority revealed in a statement that it planned to charge the Swedish citizen, 32, on May 27 with "serious war crimes and terrorist crimes in Syria".
