Jala Fahmi has announced that she refuses the recent charges against her citing that the young actress removes her clothing for the camera for attention and not for artistic purposes.
In an interview with ‘Al Bayan’ daily newspaper, the actress explained, “I simply wear what is necessary for the role. I do not make it a point to wear revealing outfits… Also, I am not the only star who has been attacked for such a reason. This is why I don’t give the gossip much attention.”
Meanwhile, the actress also spoke to the UAE daily about her recent absence from the screen.
“Maybe my fans have felt that I have been away for so long because I took on a costarring role in my last movie Kalam Al Leil [Night Talk]. And since that time, I have been constantly searching for a role that would surprise my audience. But finding such a role is difficult and needs a lot of time.” she elaborated.
“However, I feel good about myself this way, because I really should not aim for quantity; quality is much more important to the real artist,” she added.
Meanwhile, the actress, who has starred in 13 films so far, said she was completely satisfied with her work as an artist “especially since I was able to achieve all this fame away from the limelight of my father, director Ashraf Fahmi.”
She also revealed the reason behind the one-time-only collaboration with Fahmi, stating that “my father told me that he would work with me on one film and then he would let me pursue my career alone, so that I can gain alone and realize that I have done it all alone. I accepted the challenge and I am glad I did.”
Jala also had something to say about her constant roles in films that are taken from Hollywood.
“I am proud of our Egyptian renditions of American movies and I admit that most of my fame came from these movies,” she said, adding “I believe that there is nothing wrong with taking the storyline of the movie from other films, especially if it is done in good taste.”
