ALBAWABA - An Israeli strike targeted a temporary refugee camp in al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital courtyard in Deir al-Balah, setting refugee tents ablaze, with dozens injured and burned alive.

Gaza's Ministry of Health stated that the death toll is expected to be much higher than the numbers released earlier. Footage circulating across social media platforms showed people trying to extinguish the fire using what comes to hand, including blankets and buckets of water.

News outlets provided a horrifying picture of the aftermath of the attacks on the camp, which occurred while many of its occupants, including children, were sleeping.

The Israeli military said that it carried out the operations to target a "command center" utilized by Hamas fighters in Central Gaza. Following the horrifying attack, Hamas released a statement refuting the Israeli claims, saying that it is not the first time these claims were used to justify the killing of Palestinians.

The attack came shortly after an Israeli strike killed at least 20 people, including children, in a school in the Nuseirat refugee camp, also located in central Gaza.

Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel

Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.

Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip and captured military bases and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.

In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip. Thousands were killed, and dozens of thousands of others were injured in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

The latest statistics by the Ministry of Health in Gaza revealed that the death toll from Israeli brutal pounding on the Gaza Strip since October 7 has soared to 41,802+ people, with more than 96,844+ injuries.

Since then, approximately 90% of Gazans have been displaced, all of whom are suffering from severe food insecurity, and the healthcare system has collapsed. Hundreds of thousands of people lack shelter, and aid trucks are entering the area at a lower rate than before the conflict began.
