Israeli troops shot and killed a Palestinian man Thursday during an operation in the West Bank village of Beit Omar, near the southern city of Hebron, hospital officials told AFP.

Neighbors told AFP that Israeli forces stormed the home of 50-year-old Falah Abu Maria to arrest his son Mohammad.  The troops shot Abu Maria in the chest when he ran downstairs to see what was happening.

Thursday's killing is the second in 24 hours.  Israeli troops on Wednesday shot and killed Muhammad Ahmad Alawneh, 21, when clashes broke out during an operation in the West Bank town of Birqin, near the northern city of Jenin.
