An Israeli civilian was slightly hurt Tuesday when he was hit by a stone thrown by Lebanese civilians at the Fatima Gate, a former crossing point on the border with Lebanon, the Israeli army said.
The army said in a statement that Lebanese civilians were throwing stones on Israelis and foreign immigrant workers in the Fatima area, a frequent occurrence on the border.
"An Israeli civilian was lightly wounded but did not need medical treatment," the statement said.
The army intervened to disperse those gathered on the Israeli side of the border after the immigrant workers began throwing stones in retaliation, it said.
Security sources in southern Lebanon said an Israeli soldier was hit on the head.
Since the May 24th Israeli troop pullout that ended a 22 year occupation, Lebanese and Palestinian refugees have been going daily to the border and throwing stones at Israeli soldiers and civilians - JERUSALM (AFP)
