ALBAWABA - The Israeli army announced on Saturday the downing of a drone belonging to them over Lebanese territory, using a surface-to-air missile.

According to the Israeli army radio, the drone was downed by a missile launched by Hezbollah.

The spokesperson for the Israeli army stated that the incident is under investigation, adding that the Israeli air force will continue to operate in Lebanese airspace until the completion of Israeli army missions.

The mentioned drone is a "Hermes 900" unmanned aerial vehicle, one of the largest and most expensive drones owned by the Israeli army.

Footage showed the drone catching fire in the air before crashing in a village in southern Lebanon.

This marks the fourth time since the start of the conflict that Hezbollah has succeeded in downing an Israeli combat drone. So far, two "Koahv" drones and two "Zik" drones have been downed.

Hezbollah and Israel exchange fire concurrently with the war in Gaza, representing the worst cross-border conflict in southern Lebanon since 2006, raising concerns of the escalation of fighting in the region.

On Friday, a security source and another from a rescue group in Lebanon reported that at least one medic from a Hezbollah-affiliated rescue and civil defense institution was killed and another injured in an Israeli strike targeting an ambulance in southern Lebanon.
