ALBAWABA - Following claims that he was abducted, the Israeli Ambassador to Cyprus Oren Anolik posted a video on X, refuting the news that was circulating the internet regarding him being kidnapped along with his assistants.

In the video, Anolik said that he feels obligated to address the rumors that went around of him being abducted, days before the Jewish New Year. "I am hearing that some fake news about me circulating. Let me assure you I am fine," he wrote.

Earlier, news of Anolik being kidnapped stormed social media. Some said that he was accompanied by 2 people, believed to be his assistants kidnapped on the coast and taken to an unknown location. Some even added that contact was completely lost with the ambassador.

Several news websites carried the news around, claiming that Reuters first reported on the kidnapping. However, the Reuters Press Team took to X to debunk the statements saying that the claims were false.

"Any claims Reuters reported that Israel’s ambassador to Cyprus was kidnapped along with two companions is false. Reuters did not report this," Reuters PR team wrote.
