ALBAWABA - The Israeli military has announced that Mohammad Mahdi Ali Shahin, a top Hezbollah weapons coordinator, was killed Thursday in an attack that targeted a car in Hermel, which is near the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon.

Taking aim at a Crucial Hezbollah Operative
Under the direction of military intelligence, an Israeli Air Force plane executed the attack, according to IDF spokeswoman Avichay Adraee.  Shahin was credited with organizing the acquisition of weapons and smuggling activities along the Syrian-Lebanese border, making him a pivotal player in Hezbollah's armaments network.

The IDF defended the attack as a precautionary move against Hezbollah's developing capabilities and described Shahin's actions as a direct danger to Israeli security.  Amid increased tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, especially in the wake of recent cross-border skirmishes, this operation is the most recent in a string of targeted operations.

The attack highlights Israel's ongoing attempts to interfere with Hezbollah's military installations and supply routes in Lebanon, which exacerbates instability in the area.
