ALBAWABA As tensions in the region rise, Israeli armed troops are said to have invaded the Quneitra region of southern Syria yesterday night, annexing more territory.
Two days before, Israeli troops had used a drone attack to kill one Syrian government soldier and injure another near the al-Alam roundabout in Quneitra. Additionally, the Israeli military said that a Hezbollah leader had been killed nearby.
With the use of bulldozers and armored vehicles equipped with machine weapons, Israeli forces reportedly moved 500 meters into the town of Kodna. Syrian government soldiers based in Tel Ahmar were watching this assault closely, and they allegedly withdrew to higher ground throughout the operation.
According to the local news source "Tajammu Ahrar Horan," the Israeli troops destroyed hundreds of olive trees and leveled a number of earthen mounds, indicating that the operation was intended to find locations thought to be used by Hezbollah terrorists to build tunnels.
Furthermore, according to local accounts, Israeli soldiers erected barbed wire around the boundaries to bolster their recently captured land.
Israel has been working on the "Sufa 53" road project for the last two years, which includes the invasion and the clearing of land. This project is located within Syrian government-controlled territory close to the Syrian military deployment, east of the 1974 Yindouf line, which is a demilitarized zone under UN supervision.
