ALBAWABA—New, never-before-seen video of the September 27, 2024, airstrike against Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah has been made public by the Israeli military.
The video shows Israeli air force strikes on Hezbollah's underground command center in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, and it was released just hours after Nasrallah's funeral in Beirut.
Israeli military spokesperson in Arabic, Avichay Adraee, posted the video on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. It offers a thorough account of the precise attacks that killed senior leaders, including Ali Karaki, the commander of Hezbollah's southern front.
The video was made public soon after Hezbollah hosted a lavish burial in Beirut for Nasrallah and his successor, Hashem Safieddine, that drew tens of thousands of followers.
[] Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz issued a forceful statement after the video was made public, asserting that Israeli fighter jets flew over Nasrallah's funeral procession as a clear message to Hezbollah.
"You (Hezbollah) will specialize in funerals, while we will specialize in victories," Katz said. He went on to say that anyone who puts Israel in danger is dooming themselves.
Given that Israel and Hezbollah are still at war, the video's release is predicted to exacerbate regional tensions even further. The area faces an unclear geopolitical future as Hezbollah vows vengeance and Israel's military reaffirms its air dominance.
This development sends a strong deterrent message and highlights Israel's ongoing military strategy of targeted murders targeting Hezbollah's leadership.
