The Israeli government is offering Gaza Strip settlers a so-called "far-reaching" proposal of land in the "Nitzanim" dunes area (located in southern Israel near the city of Ashkelon), if they meet two central demands - that they submit a list of "masses" of settlers willing to relocate as a group, and that they renounce law-breaking in their continuing struggle to foil the "disengagement", a high-level aide to Prime Minister Sharon said Tuesday.
According to HaAretz newspaper, settler representatives were informed Monday night that the government has agreed to a plan to relocate the Gaza Strip settlers slated for evacuation under the "disengagement plan" to the Nitzanim dunes, and intends to meet almost all the demands raised by them.
During a meeting Monday night at the office of Justice Minister Tzipi Livni in Tel Aviv, Livni reportedly told the head of the Legal Forum for the Land of Israel, attorney Yitzhak Miron, who is representing the settlers, that the government agrees to the establishment of four new communities in the area of Nitzanim.
