Israel intensified its patrols guarding the northern borders after the dead body of a security official was found on Monday. He was declared missing on Thursday last week.

The official, identified as Ishaq Kfartatz, 54, was in charge of security at Manara Kibbutz near the Lebanese border. He was shot dead, and tens of guns went missing from the arms store in the kibbutz.

The Israeli border guards looked tense and cautious. They forbade at gunpoint journalists from getting closer to the fence separating Israel and Lebanon.

The UN forces also bolstered their presence in the area.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army continued its war games at the adjacent Tel Ballani, heavily guarded by mechanized units.
