ALBAWABA - The Israeli military has classed the Gaza Strip as a "secondary front," for the first time since October 7, 2023, Yedioth Ahronoth reported. This change occurs when the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) focus more of their attention and resources on Lebanon.

The army's attention has shifted to southern Lebanon, where a ground attack started last week, the newspaper said on Friday. Despite this change, operations in northern Gaza, especially in the Jabalia region, are still assigned to a regular division under the Southern Command. It is anticipated that these raids would go on for many weeks.

Despite U.S. cautions against further intensifying the conflict, Israel has expanded its war goals beyond Gaza to allow northern residents to return to their homes.

This change comes as demands for military action against Hezbollah have grown inside Israel. Tens of thousands of Israeli Israelis have been forced to leave their homes as a result of the group's increased rocket firing on communities in the north.

Israel has been conducting airstrikes across Lebanon, including the capital, Beirut, since September 23 as part of its ongoing military assault. The strikes represent a major escalation and have been called some of the most brutal and intense to date. In addition, a ground invasion is under place in southern Lebanon in defiance of UN resolutions and international warnings.
