ALBAWABA- The Israeli army announced the assassination of Salman Nimr Jumaa, described as "Hezbollah's envoy" to the Syrian army, in a raid on Damascus.
Jumaa, a veteran Hezbollah operative, reportedly held several key positions for the group in Syria, aiding in the transfer of weapons from Syria to Hezbollah and maintaining close ties with senior Syrian officials.
The strike marks a significant escalation in Israel's campaign against Hezbollah’s operations in the region.
Meanwhile, tensions remain high along the Lebanon-Israel border, with ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement.
An Israeli drone strike in the Janam area near Shebaa in Lebanon's Hasbaya district killed a shepherd, while Israeli artillery targeted the Khiam Plain and the outskirts of Rashaya al-Fakhar.
Additionally, an Israeli tank infiltrated from Tel al-Nahhas, reaching the Burj al-Muluk-Khiam intersection, marking the first such incursion into the area.
These developments highlight the fragility of the ceasefire as Israeli forces continue cross-border operations, raising concerns about further escalation in the region.
