Iraq's Foreign Ministry strongly condemned on Friday the killing of Egyptian envoy to Baghdad Ehab El-Sherif who was kidnapped Saturday while purchasing a newspaper in the Iraqi capital and was executed Thursday.
The ministry said that that the killing is "a criminal act that once again shows that terrorism has no boundaries, thus requiring a strengthening of international cooperation in seriously combating terrorism and rooting it out."
It noted that the "criminals" behind the killing seek to discourage Arab and Islamic states from having diplomatic representation in Iraq, calling upon these states to prove their defiance to terrorism by sending their missions to the country.
The ministry stressed that this unfortunate event would not "hinder the boosting of brotherly diplomatic relations between Iraq and Egypt, as both states are aware of the importance of bringing security to Iraq and how this reflects on the stability of the region and the world."
Egyptian President, Husni Mubarak also said that’s this act of terrorism will not thwart Egypt from its unwavering policy of supporting Iraq and its people and serving the Arab Nation and its cause.
