Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Tareq Aziz met Saturday with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

He later told the official APS news agency in Algiers that Baghdad was "ready to face up to any aggression" in its stand-off with the United States.

Aziz, who arrived in Algeria on Friday, did not provide details of his talks with Bouteflika, or of a message that he was expected to deliver to the Algerian leader from Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. He only said that he had informed Bouteflika of the situation in Iraq, the news agency said. (Albawaba.com)
