ALBAWABA - Iranian foreign minister Hossein Amirabdollahian leaves for Syria in the first official Iranian visit to Damascus following the attack on the Iranian consulate.
Last week, a suspected Israeli airstrike hit the Iranian consulate in Syria killing seven members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), including two top commanders.
Iran vowed to revenge the attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus and a senior Iranian official said on Sunday that Israeli embassies are no longer safe.
Yahya Rahim Safavi, the military advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, said "The recent attack on our consulate and the tragic loss of our soldiers in Syria highlights the relentless aggression and illegal actions of the Zionist regime."
He maintained: "The brave Iranian soldiers who perished in the consulate attack were pivotal figures in the Resistance movement, actively challenging the Zionist regime's oppression on multiple fronts."
The Jerusalem Post reported that 28 Israeli embassies and consulates have been temporarily closed due to Iranian threats after the attack on its consulate in Syria killing seven members of IRGC.
Furthermore, Hossein Salami, an Iranian commander of the Revolutionary Guard, warned on Friday that "no threat will go unanswered" in retaliation for the attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, which was widely attributed to Israel.
