ALBAWABA - The International Criminal Court (ICC) is seeking evidence of crimes in El Fasher, North Darfur. ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan requested verification of these reports.

Khan said on the ICC's X platform, "I call on our partners worldwide to provide information and cooperation to address the Darfur crisis in Sudan."

Khan urged victims, civil society groups, national parties, and foreign partners to report Darfur civilian massacres. He said the ICC is examining UNSC claims of El Fasher residents being murdered based on their skin color and ethnicity.

ICC investigators have been to Chad and Port Sudan to seek evidence to address these concerns. Khan invited anybody with pertinent evidence, such as civilian ground footage or images, to submit them to the court and provide witness contact information.

"Allowing history to repeat itself in Darfur is enraging," Khan said, citing the court's evidence of civilian massacres. He worried that ethnic cleansing targeting huge communities might deepen the problem if no action is done.

The army and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have fought for nearly a year in Sudan. After a public revolt and army-RSF coup against a civilian-participatory administration, this war began.

Conflict erupted in mid-April 2023 and continues in most Sudanese states. The army rules the north and east, while the RSF rules the south and west.

Discussions in Manama, Bahrain, Jeddah negotiations mediated by Saudi Arabia and the US, Egypt-led peace measures by Sudan's neighbors, and IGAD efforts in East Africa have failed to end the conflict.

The UN estimates that over 16,000 people have died, almost 10 million have been displaced, and over 25 million need humanitarian help owing to the world's biggest displacement and famine crises.
