ALBAWABA - The Houthis, also known as Ansar Allah, are a Yemeni organization that said today that they used drones and missiles to strike a cargo ship in the Gulf of Aden. The ship's breach of a restriction preventing it from entering Israeli ports was blamed for the assault.
In an address on Al-Masirah TV, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said that the group's fighters had begun a military campaign in the Gulf of Aden.
The ship owner violated the Israeli port access prohibition, resulting in numerous ballistic missiles and drone strikes against the Singapore-flagged Lobivia. Saree verified that the ship was struck directly and issued a warning that further Palestinian assistance operations will follow Israeli activities in Gaza.
Saree called on all Islamic and Arab countries to carry out their obligations to the Palestinian people and to take an active role in the vital and unavoidable battle.
The ship was targeted around 80 nautical miles (148 kilometers) southeast of the Yemeni coastal city of Aden, according to the "Ambrey" maritime security agency. There were no reported injuries from the incident.
The container ship Lobivia was assaulted, according to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, which also verified that the fire was put out. According to the authorities, the ship had traveled autonomously to the port of Berbera in Somalia in order to evaluate the damage and identify the required repairs, and all of the crew members were safe.
