ALBAWABA - The Israeli military reports that a drone explosion early on Friday morning in Tel Aviv caused many injuries in addition to one fatality. The incident has been attributed to the Houthi movement, which describes it as a "special operation."

Witnesses in downtown Tel Aviv's popular Ben Yehuda Street claimed to have heard a big explosion. In addition to confirming the finding of a corpse with shrapnel wounds, Israeli police also said that three other people were hurt in the explosion.

To control the situation, a sizable police contingent from the Tel Aviv neighborhood quickly arrived on the scene. In order to determine the source of the explosion, authorities have cordoned off the area and are aggressively looking for shrapnel bits.

The explosion was determined by the Israeli military to be the consequence of a drone detonation. The inability of air defenses and air raid sirens to intercept the drone has prompted an official inquiry. Sirens were not triggered because, as the Israeli Home Front Command had earlier declared, there was no observed violation of airspace.

The Houthi military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, said on Friday morning that the air force of the group carried out a "special operation" in Tel Aviv with the aid of a brand-new "Yafa" drone. Tel Aviv is still a top target for the Houthis and is within range of their weaponry, according to Saree.

The Houthis have been attacking Israeli-affiliated ships in the Red Sea since November of last year, claiming to be in favor of Gaza. In order to confront these threats, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other countries formed a military alliance. They have also claimed credit for other strikes against Israeli targets.
