Sami Abu Zuhri, Hamas spokesman in the Gaza Strip, Saturday warned that the calming down was about to collapse due to Israeli refusal to meet resistance factions’ demands topped by releasing all Palestinian captives.
Commenting on the Palestinian prisoners’ decision to go on hunger strike for a couple of days starting Saturday, Abu Zuhri said that the Israeli occupation did not display any intention to free the prisoners or at least announce a timetable for such a release.
The Hamas Movement would stay alongside the captives till their final freedom, he affirmed, asserting that calming down could not last forever.
Quoted by PIC, he warned that Israeli town of Sderot inhabitants would not enjoy peace and tranquility as long as Palestinian prisoners were not safe and sound among their families.
The Hamas spokesman urged all parties concerned with ensuring success of the calming down to pressure Israel into halting its aggression and to meet Palestinian demands especially release of prisoners. He warned that otherwise things would return to square one, and occupation would bear the sole responsibility for the consequence.
