ALBAWABA - The International Court of Justice's (ICJ) advisory judgment, which declares Israel's occupation of Palestinian lands to be unlawful and demands an immediate end to it, has received Hamas' endorsement.
"We welcome the ICJ's advisory opinion affirming the illegality of the Zionist occupation (Israel) and the necessity for its termination," Hamas announced in an official statement.
This position draws attention to the many breaches of international law committed by the occupying governments against our people and Palestinian territories, and it denounces the fascist settlement system (Jewish settlements) and demands that it end."
Hamas stressed that this decision underscores the pressing need for swift action, as does the International Court of Justice's proposal that the UN Security Council take into consideration steps to end the Israeli occupation.
The statement made clear that Israel has routinely disregarded international resolutions and has the full support of the US government for this behavior. It called on the whole community to uphold these decisions and press Israel to follow them.
In a public session, Lebanese Judge Nawaf Salam, the President of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), presented the advisory opinion on the legal ramifications of Israel's conduct in the occupied Palestinian territories. These locations, according to the ICJ, represent a "single territorial unit" rather than dispersed regions.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) declared that Israel was the occupying force in the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem and ordered Israel to "end its occupation of Palestinian territories as soon as possible." The International Court of Justice further underlined that nations have a legal duty to refrain from acknowledging, promoting, or endorsing Israel's occupation of these lands.
