ALBAWABA - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is the "main obstacle" to the indirect discussion rounds, according to Hossam Badran, a top Hamas leadership figure.

According to Badran, "The claims Israel is promoting against Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar are not worth addressing, as Israeli cameras documented him fighting on the battlefield."

He said, "We entered the October 7 operation under the leadership of Commander Yahya Sinwar to protect our Palestinian cause, defend our people, and prioritize our issues on the global stage."

Badran went on to clarify that what the "Israeli military spokesperson presented is nothing but a desperate and ridiculous attempt to cover up the clear failure of Israel's security and military system."

"Has its own consultative and executive institutions, with internal regulations that always allow it to organize its internal affairs, no matter how difficult the circumstances are," the Hamas leader said. History demonstrates that.

He went on to say, "The primary obstruction to the indirect negotiation rounds is Netanyahu and his extremist government," emphasizing that "Hamas' decisions are collective and made through its consultative and executive institutions."

Daniel Hagari, a spokesman for the Israeli army, said on Saturday that Sinwar had spent the whole conflict underground.

The death of Sinwar in a military operation in the southern Gaza city of Rafah was formally declared by the Israeli army on Thursday night.

"IDF forces in southern Gaza killed Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas, after a year-long manhunt," according to a statement from the Israeli army.
