Gillard Shelters: an ultra-quick assembly mobile shelter
Currently used in a large number of military theatres of operation, the Gillard mobile shelter is a deployable structure with semi-automated assembly. Its rapid assembly and resistance to climatic constraints make it the only product of its kind in the world. It comes in three size s, and is thus suitable for numerous applications, such as a first-aid post, canteen, sleeping accommodation or maintenance workshop. Depending on its measurements, the product can be used on a cradle, platform, trailer or articulated lorry. The Gillard Shelters company is seeking distributors.
In relation to its surface area, the rapid assembly of the Gillard deployable mobile shelter constitutes a remarkable feat. Two people can easily deploy a shelter of 60 m², i.e. 9 metres in diameter, in 15 minutes, or the 120 m² model in 30 minutes, and it only takes 50 minutes for six people to make the 320 m² model operational. The latter is particularly large, as it has a diameter of 21 metres and is 6 metres high. A system for raising two poles using electric hoists means that the shelter can house large-scale equipment such as a helicopter with rotor blades in deployed position. Assembly is simple and only requires a few hours' training.
So what makes these shelters so easy to mount, despite their size? A hydraulic assembly system. The Gillard shelter requires no air compressor, unlike inflatable tents. The materials in its composition impose no weight constraints, and the design of the structures requires no external equipment for assembly or dismantling.
Frequently used by various assistance services, the fire brigade and French emergency rescue services as a medical post, the mobile shelter constitutes a space that is rapidly available and easily transported. Its considerable weatherproof capacities make it the perfect product to isolate equipment from the outside or store it. It can be used for all the purposes of a military shelter, and depending on requirements, can be employed as a command post or a military campaign hospital. It can also be used for repairing vehicles, including tanks, trucks, helicopters and fighter planes.
The solidity and reliability of the deployable shelter guarantee it a long life of over 20 years. It is extremely wind-resistant, and tests carried out during various manoeuvres have proved how reliable it is in all types of climate. Optional equipment can provide heating, air-conditioning or sunscreens that make it inhabitable in any latitude. It can also be equipped with a dehumidifier, and a wide range of other options are available, including internal tarpaulin partitions, specific storage space, etc. Most of this equipment can be transported on the same trailers as the mobile shelters.
Made in France and patented, the Gillard deployable mobile shelter possesses features that make it a unique product that meets the requirements of the army and emergency services, and provides them with greatly enhanced mobility. Its many qualities are clearly appreciated in other countries, as it already exports to Spain, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Switzerland and Austria. Gillard is now looking to extend its distribution network.
