ALBAWABA - Gaza's final ceasefire draft states the release of about 1000 Palestinians in Israeli jails, AFP reported citing Palestinian sources close to the Hamas movement.

The two sources revealed on Tuesday that Israel is expected to free about 1,000 Palestinian prisoners during the first phase of the ceasefire deal which is likely to be reached in a short time.

In return, Hamas will be requested to release 33 Israeli hostages, who were taken to Gaza on October 7, 2023.

One of the sources stated: "Israel will release about 1,000 Palestinian prisoners, including several with lengthy sentences." Meanwhile, an official in the Israeli government confirmed that during the first stage, "several hundred terrorists will be released" from detentions.

On Sunday, new Gaza ceasefire talks kicked off in Doha between the Hamas movement and the Israeli government with the mediation of Qatar, Egypt and the US.

A final proposal was reached, according to an announcement made by current US President Joe Biden, with Israel awaiting Hamas' response which was expected on Tuesday afternoon.

Biden uncovered in a Monday press conference that the ceasefire deal will lead to "the release of the hostages (Israeli detainees), a cessation of fighting, providing security for Israel and increasing humanitarian aid to the Palestinians."
