ALBAWABA - Before the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump, mediators doubled their efforts with the aim of reaching a ceasefire deal in Gaza as the continues for its 466th day.

New Gaza ceasefire talks kicked off in Doha between the Hamas movement and the Israeli government with the mediation of Qatar, Egypt and the US. A final proposal was achieved according to an announcement made by current US President Joe Biden.

Biden uncovered in a Monday press conference that the ceasefire deal will lead to "the release of the hostages (Israeli detainees), a cessation of fighting, providing security for Israel and increasing humanitarian aid to the Palestinians."

Biden posted on X: "I spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu yesterday to discuss ongoing negotiations in Doha for a ceasefire and hostage release deal. My Administration is working hard to try and reach a deal to bring hostages home, end this war, and bring immediate relief to Palestinians in Gaza."

An informed official told Reuters that a final round of Gaza ceasefire talks is set to take place in Doha today to finalize the remaining details of the deal.

Reuters also revealed that Steve Witkoff, Trump's envoy, Brett McGurk, Biden's envoy, the heads of the Israeli intelligence services, and the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, are expected to attend the meeting.

The final draft also includes ending the war on the Gaza Strip, which has been ongoing since Oct. 7, 2023, and the exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners to Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), in a first step aimed at ending the 15-month-old war.

Axios quoted three US officials as saying that Secretary of State Antony Blinken will present in a speech to the Atlantic Council today a plan for rebuilding and managing Gaza if an agreement to end the war is reached.
