ALBAWABA - French political scientist Francois Burgat, who is well-known for being a great supporter of Gaza, was taken into police custody in France.
According to local media, Francois Burgat was taken into custody for accusations of 'supporting terrorism'.
Many activists have decried the move to take the French political scientist into police custody and called for the immediate release of the pro-Palestinian activist Francois Burgat.
Since the start of the latest war in Gaza on Oct. 7, 2023, Francois Burgat has shown a firm stance alongside the people in Gaza as he was very active in supporting Gaza via his official X account on which he has over 33,000 followers.
Francois Burgat had earlier handed in hot water after expressing his "infinite respect" to Hamas, the Palestinian resistance group. He wrote on X: "I have more respect and appreciation for the leaders of Hamas than the leaders of the state of Israel. I don't think I am the only one, quite the opposite."
