ALBAWABA- The Lebanese Civil Defense has reported a major response effort following a series of explosions involving wireless communication devices in southern Lebanon.

The new blasts, which occurred in Nabatieh and the southern Beirut suburbs, have resulted in extensive damage, including fires in 60 homes and shops, 15 cars, and dozens of motorcycles.

Notably, a lithium battery store in Majdal Selem was also engulfed in flames.

The explosions, which have resulted in at least 9 fatalities and over 300 injuries, prompted urgent intervention from the Civil Defense to contain fires across various locations, including Ghobeiry, Haret Hreik, Baajour Street, Burj al-Barajneh, al-Ruwais, Hay al-Salam, and Khaldeh.

Lebanese Prime Minister has called for an emergency session of the UN Security Council to address the situation, condemning the heinous Israeli attacks as violations of international law.

Diplomatic sources confirm that the Security Council will convene an emergency meeting next Friday to discuss the unfolding crisis in Lebanon.

Notably, a second wave of explosions has struck Lebanon, this time involving "Walkie Talkie Icom" wireless communication devices. Although the blasts occurred on a large scale across multiple regions, the explosions themselves were relatively small.

According to Reuters, hundreds of injuries have been reported from today's explosions. Videos circulating online show explosions erupting during funerals for victims of the previous day's blasts, causing panic among mourners in Southern Beirut.
