ALBAWABA- At least 57 people, including 31 Syrian regime soldiers and 26 fighters from Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and allied factions, have been killed in heavy clashes in northern Syria.
The confrontations erupted after HTS launched a coordinated assault on regime positions as part of its "Deterring Aggression" operation, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
In a significant development, the Syrian opposition’s military operations department announced the capture of key assets, including five tanks, a BMP vehicle, and a missile warehouse, along with the detention of six regime forces.
Opposition factions also reported taking control of the Saadia Association area and the towns of Ainjara and Ajil in the western Aleppo countryside.
Meanwhile, regime forces retaliated with intense shelling, targeting the city of Darat Izza in western Aleppo with artillery and missiles, further escalating the conflict.
The renewed clashes signal a significant escalation in Syria following a prolonged period of relative calm, underscoring the external influences on the conflict and the roles played by Israel, Turkey, and Iran in shaping the region's dynamics.
