Eight people were wounded Monday in an explosion in a Palestinian government compound in Gaza City housing the national security headquarters, security sources said.
Palestinian security sources said the blast was believed to have been caused by a rocket, which had been fired on the building by Israeli forces the day before as fierce gun-battles and clashes raged in the Gaza Strip.
They said several people were examining the Lau missile when it exploded.
The Palestinians said Sunday that Israel had fired some 40 missiles on security posts and Palestinian homes in Gaza.
Meanwhile, in Netzarim a flashpoint area in the center of Gaza Strip, Israeli soldiers opened fire on Palestinian demonstrators, injuring three, witnesses said.
