An Egyptian woman gave birth to a healthy child in a rare pregnancy case where the infant has spent the past 40 weeks during its growth period outside the mother's uterus, Gulf News Agency (GNA) reported Sunday.

The agency quoted a report in Egypt's Alwafd newspaper as saying that such delivery is the first of its kind in Egypt and the second in the world.

The paper added that a miracle has saved the newborn and the mother who was hemorrhaging when she entered the hospital, quoting the doctors in charge as saying such incident occurs one out of 200,000 case.

The mother, 32 years of age, has three other children whom she delivered normally, the report said - Albawaba.com
