Lebanese Foreign Minister Mahmoud Hammoud has invited his Egyptian counterpart, Ahmad Maher, to pay an official visit to Lebanon, reported the Daily Star newspaper on Saturday.
The invitation was delivered to Egyptian Ambassador Adel Al Khodary during his meeting with Hammoud on Friday, prior to the ambassador’s departure for Egypt.
Sources told the paper that the message also touched on the Egyptian-Jordanian Middle East peace initiative and the divergent Israeli-Palestinian views on the Mitchell Commission’s report on ending violence in the Palestinian occupied territories.
Khodary said the meeting served as an additional opportunity to review the general situation in the region in light of President Emile Lahoud’s “successful” visit to France – Albawaba.com
