Dubai eGovernment has announced that it will launch a unique electronic raffle promotion called “Best Online Customer.” The promotion will run for 2 months starting from August 01 up to October 22, 2008, a day before the conclusion of the 2008 Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX), the region’s largest technology exhibition held annually in Dubai.

Customers using the Dubai eGovernment portal to make ePayment transactions from August 1 to October 22, 2008   will automatically be included in the raffle, with a random draw to select winners. . Departments that will be participating and sponsoring the prizes include Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority. Daily prizes include helicopter trips to get aerial views of Dubai, three-night stay in 5 star hotels in Dubai, electronic and entertainment devices and more.

“Dubai eGovernment has been constantly introducing innovative measures to maximise adoption of electronic services, which has resulted in a steady increase in the number of online transactions each year. This raffle promotion reflects the creativity and commitment of Dubai eGovernment as it champions the shift towards eGovernance,” said Salem Al Shair, eServices Director, Dubai eGovernment.

Participating departments have been required to do two months of pre-event marketing promotion to create awareness and remind customers to keep their transaction numbers. Each department will pick ePayment services to include in the promo and will conduct its own separate raffle to determine a daily winner. Dubai eGovernment will support the departments by displaying daily results generated via an online draw application on a plasma screen to be placed at the Dubai eGovernment stand at GITEX 2008.

Launched in 2001, Dubai eGovernment envisions the eventual integration of individually automated government departments under a single eGovernment, catering to both business and federal interests. From an initial lineup of 14 eServices, Dubai eGovernment now offers more than 2,000 eServices.

Editor’s Note:

Dubai eGovernment is a pioneering initiative in the region to provide online services across the spectrum of corporate and community life in the emirate. It also has a vision to integrate individually automated government departments under the single umbrella of the eGovernment initiative, thus empowering employees across lines of businesses and levels of government, besides facilitating the lives of citizens and customers of the government. Dubai has taken a lead in the region in deploying eGovernment applications and is among the first few governments in the world to provide such integrated services to its citizens. The eGovernment portal (www.dubai.ae) is a single contact point masking the complexity of the bureaucratic procedures, and guiding access to all services in the easiest possible way. In addition, the eGovernment initiative seeks to improve and enhance procedures by maximizing the benefit from technology, so that users from all walks of life will be able to utilize the portal for their specific needs with considerable ease.
