Datel Systems and Software, a Dubai-based technology service provider, has announced its participation at the world’s 18th edition of the Simplifying Passenger Travel Interest Group (SPTIG) Conference, to be held from November 8-10, 2005, at the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel in Dubai, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Director of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and President of Emirates Group. Datel is a co-sponsor of the event, the other sponsors being the Dubai Naturalization and Residency Department (DNRD), Dubai Airport and SPTIG.
The only Middle East-based technology supplier to be an SPTIG member, Datel is a leading technology and professional services company specializing in providing consulting, outsourced technology and business strategy solutions to corporates and government entities.
The SPTIG Conference is a worldwide event targeted at the primary audience of SPTIG members who focus on the development of air transport systems as a whole, implementing standards and introducing advanced technology. The members-only conference is expected to draw participation from 75 SPTIG members, including airport representatives, IT and systems suppliers, airlines and government officials.
“SPTIG Conference is the most important global event of its kind, facilitating mutual exchange of information and insights that lead to improved air travel quality. Being a technology company dedicated to providing pioneering IT solutions, Datel would like to gain significant benefits from its participation in this high-profile event by closely interacting with experts and fellow participants,” said Prakash Ivaturi, Business Development Manager, Datel. “This is the first time the SPTIG Conference is being held in the Middle East, and the choice of Dubai as the venue reflects the city’s growing reputation as a leading travel hub. Dubai is certainly the ideal venue for the event, given that the city boasts a state-of the-art airport and a world-class airline.”
“Datel has been at the forefront of the technological advancements being witnessed in the region. Our solutions are based on industry-best practices and are designed to ensure operational efficiency for our clients. Datel’s state-of-the-art eGate system has revolutionized the process of passenger clearance at the Dubai airport, considerably accelerating the movement of passenger traffic,” Ivaturi added.
The eGate system is designed to facilitate quick passenger clearance by utilizing a smart card. The eCard displays the user’s history and fingerprint on the screen that verifies the person’s identity, and dependent on this authentication the user gains access through the gate. Dubai International Airport is the first airport in the Middle East and the third in the world to install such an advanced passenger clearance system.
